Job summary
RESEARCH FELLOW, Economics (3 openings), to conduct economic analysis as part of Policy Impacts, an organization founded by Professor Nathaniel Hendren, that is dedicated to improving the quality of government decision-making by promoting standardization in policy analysis.  Will work directly with Professor Hendren on research topics in applied microeconomics and empirical welfare analysis. Topics are likely to include the welfare analysis of environmental and criminal justice policies, empirical macroeconomics, and the impact and incidence of labor market shocks. Work will involve detailed and careful coding of the welfare impacts of government policies, analysis and coding of large micro datasets, literature reviews, and advanced meta-analysis methods using Stata and GitHub. It will also build upon earlier work studying the welfare impacts of government policies and the impact of local labor markets on upward economic mobility.  

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in economics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field; at least two years of specialized experience in quantitative data analysis, research methods, and/or social sciences research (may include coursework or experience gained as an undergraduate); and experience with programming, particularly around data analysis, cleaning, and simulations.

This is a full-time, one-year appointment that begins on July 1, 2024, and is renewable annually based on mutual agreement and the availability of funding.

An employment term of two years is strongly preferred.
